PRP Therapy

PRP Treatment in Boston MA

PRP Treatment - Spine Specialists of Boston - Boston, MAPlatelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a revolutionary procedure that uses cells from your own body to stimulate the natural healing process. This quick, convenient, and minimally invasive procedure can provide effective pain relief and accelerate your recovery, often eliminating the need for surgery.

In this procedure, we will draw a blood sample from you and place it in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelets, which are rich in growth factors that stimulate the healing of soft tissue and joints. We then re-inject this concentrate into the area of injury to promote a healing response.

The entire process takes approximately 30 minutes. You will typically see results within 2-3 months of treatment, and treatments are typically recommended monthly for three months. Oftentimes, patients will experience the desired results from the first PRP injection, eliminating the need for further ones.

Dr. Frederic Gerges, the pain management physician at Spine Specialists of Boston, performs the PRP procedures.

What Does PRP Treat?

The use of PRP is a promising treatment for both acute and chronic injuries.

PRP therapy has been used for years to treat injuries such as lower back pain, spinal disc pain, tendonitis, osteoarthritis, fractures, chronic pain, and regeneration.

Patients who have used PRP for low back pain have experienced significant improvement in their symptoms despite their age and type or severity of injury. In addition, there are minimal or no side effects because a patient’s own blood is used. Most insurance plans do not cover the cost of PRP therapy.
